Smart Telecom launches app to help ALS teachers

Good news to the more than 6,000 mobile teachers of DepEd BALS.

Department of Education's Bureau of Alternative Learning System (BALS) together with Smart Telecom has launched a mobile application for mobile teachers, providers and implementors of alternative learning in schools and communities.

The application is free of charge and comes pre-installed in Smart Bro mobile tablets and allows mobile teachers to access teaching materials anytime, anywhere, online or offline.

Smart has tapped Orange Fix, a mobile applications development firm which earlier has already made mEducation tools for Smart. According to Smart, this partnership further strengthens their partnership with DepEd BALS which already use their Smart Infoboard service, "a Web-based messaging platform that allows accurate and fast transmission of circulars and other announcements from the head office to the mobile teachers wherever they may be via SMS on their mobile phones".
